30 years in the making
You never know when you meet someone how long you’re going to get to know them.
What I have loved about my friendship with the brilliant, generous, kind and beautiful Kit Yoon is that though we met in boarding school- circa 1990- and were friendly then, we have become much better friends over the 3 decades since as our interests and paths have intersected and overlapped.
A shared love of a healthy lifestyle, photography and personal development have led us to an even deeper connection as time passed.
We haven’t seen each other in person since 1992 but made the time to catch up over breakfast this week. Luckily her husband and my friend Jim could join us. They had just swam in the infamous Walden Pond and were back in the area visiting colleges with their twins. Next they were headed to hike and explore Vermont and Maine.
We talked for an hour like 30 years hadn’t passed. The reminders were many. Connection matters and time can be irrelevant. Breakfast with old and dear or new and near friends has never been more important or a wise way to improve your health and well-being.
Reach out to that person whose been on you mind or heart. Make connection a priority and enjoy every minute of it. Soak it in.
